IPL 2026: 5 players who can win MVP award


Year after year, the Indian Premier League (IPL) features some outstanding individual performances from those who score the most points to win the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award. Taking home the Player of the Series award in 2013, MVP winners include some of the greatest T20 players from across the world.

Some of the players who have been crowned MVP winners include Virat Kohli, Sunil Narine, Shubman Gill, Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes to name a few.

Since its rebranding, Narine has won this honor a maximum of three times (2012, 2018 and 2024). His most recent accolade saw him score 450 points, the most in the history of the tournament.

Here are the five contenders for the 2026 Most Valuable Player award

Ishan Kishan The Indian Premier League (IPL) will enter the 2026 season after extremely successful months on both the international and domestic front. The 27-year-old was a part of the Indian team that won the 2026 T20 World Cup, where he scored 317 runs at a strike-rate of 193.29. He also led Jharkhand to the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title before the start of the World Cup.

Kishan left his old association with Mumbai Indians last year and joined Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). In his debut season for SRH, the left-handed batsman scored 354 runs, which also included his maiden IPL century. Based on his form with the bat and his rhythm in the IPL, Kishan is a prime candidate to win the MVP honor this time.
