It was a fairy-tale return to Rajasthan Royals (RR) for the star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja In the Indian Premier League (IPL), he had a brilliant performance against his former IPL team Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the third match of IPL 2026 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati on March 30.
The veteran left-arm spinner took two wickets in his very first over in RR colors after returning to the franchise. Jadeja, who came to bowl the eighth over, put the five-time champion team in trouble by dismissing Sarfaraz Khan and Shivam Dubey. He finished with figures of 2/18 from his three overs.
After his team's win, Jadeja opened up about his feelings about playing against his former IPL team CSK and how it felt. He is enjoying this phase of his career and trying to take the change in a positive manner.
“I am liking the pink colour. The yellow color was starting to look a bit old, but I'm just kidding. Obviously, leaving a franchise like CSK, where I played for 12-13 years, was a bit difficult in the beginning. It was very emotional. But I told myself that such changes are also part of the journey. The good thing is that now I am with the team where I won the IPL title for the first time,” Jadeja said on GeoHotstar.
He was an integral part of RR's victory in the inaugural season of the IPL in 2008. Ahead of this season, he was involved in a blockbuster IPL trade in which he was also involved in. Sam Curran. RR came in place of Sanju Samson, who was traded to CSK.
He further added, “That memory has always stayed with me, that after the Under-19 World Cup, I started my IPL career there and won the title in my first season. I have kept those memories with a positive mindset, and my aim is to learn as much as possible with the new group and share my experience with the team.”
RR registered an impressive win by defeating the Chennai-based franchise by eight wickets in their season opener. South African fast bowler Nandre Berger was named player of the match for his match-winning spell of 2/26.
