Basic requirements for playoff qualification
IPL has followed the 10-team format from 2022. Since then, the following trends have been seen:
- 16 points (8 wins): almost certain qualifications
- 14 points (7 wins): dependent on potential qualification, NRR and other results (RCB in 2024)
- 12 points (6 wins): Rare, only once a team is eligible with 12 points (SRH in 2019)

- VS GT (May 11, Delhi)
- VS MI (May 17, Mumbai)

- If DC wins the remaining three matches, they will qualify.

They probably end up in top-two, if NRR lives above other teams such as GT, PBK, Mi, RCB and can become a strong contender for qualifier 1.
- If DC wins two matches but loses a game, they are likely to be very worthy.

If RCB, PBK, Mi and GT also reach 16 to 18 digits, NRR will become important for DC. (DC has a better run rate than KKR and LSG, but less than PBK, RCB, Mi, GT).
