Lucknow Super Giants Defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by five wickets in the 10th match of the 2026 Indian Premier League at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Coming into bat in their first game, Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered a setback and lost three wickets in the powerplay as LSG went on a rampage. Mohammed Shami took the wickets of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, before Prince Yadav took the wicket of Ishan Kishan. They managed only 22 runs in the powerplay and their score soon became 26/4 at the start of the eighth over.
Nitish Kumar Reddy and Heinrich Klaasen faced the LSG bowlers and made a brilliant partnership of 116 runs. Both the batsmen scored half-centuries and pulled Sunrisers back from the brink. Nitish's wicket fell for 56 runs while Klaasen's for 62 runs as LSG pulled the innings back towards the end. A few more late wickets ensured that despite the platform that Klaasen and Reddy had set for SRH, they finished at 156/9.
Mohammed Shami bowled brilliantly with the new ball, taking two wickets and giving only nine runs in his four overs. Prince Yadav and Avesh Khan took two wickets each, while spinners Digvesh Rathi and M Siddharth took one wicket each.
In reply, Lucknow Super Giants made a strong start to their innings and reached 53 runs at the end of the powerplay despite the fall of Mitchell Marsh. Aiden Markram scored a brilliant 45 runs, but was dismissed by Shivang Kumar. Rishabh Pant He held on to his end even while driving slowly, because he had lost his companions at the other end. However, he made sure to hold on till the end to give LSG the win with one ball to spare and remained unbeaten on 68 off just 50 balls.
