Matthew was in the commentary box for the match between Hayden Chennai Super Kings And DC in IPL 2025. The former CSK player talked about MS Dhoni's poor appearance and inability to finish the match for his side in the ongoing season. The 2010 IPL winner gave his honest opinion and he feels that Dhoni's time as a cricketer is over.
As Dhoni scored 30 not out for 26 runs, including one four and one six, Hayden exploded his former CSK skipper to not go after chasing. Despite the rising run rate, Dhoni and Vijay Shankar could not speed up. Australian said that Dhoni should join the commentary box.

MS Dhoni's performance so far in IPL 2025
The CSK star has not yet been a good weather. Dhoni has scored 76 runs in four innings at a strike rate of 138.18 with the best score of 30*(16) this season.

Against RR, the right -handed batsman entered the middle when 54 were needed in 25 balls and scored 16 (11). Against DC, he came to bat when he needed 110 runs in 56 balls and Vijay Shankar was the last recognized pair. He created 30*(26) as both showed no intention of going after the target.
