Gujarat Titans (GT)One of the two new franchises introduced ahead of the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) season was acquired by CVC Capital Partners for Rs 5625 crore. The franchise picked up Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill ahead of the 2022 mega auction, with Pandya made the captain and Ashish Nehra appointed as the head coach.
GT had a dream debut season, winning the IPL title in 2022 – their first attempt. They then had another impressive campaign in 2023, reaching the final and losing to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in a last-ball thriller. Franchises, including key players Mohammed Shami And David Miller quickly established himself as one of the most balanced and competitive sides in the league.
Ahead of the 2024 season, Pandya was traded to Mumbai Indians (MI), with 2023 Orange Cap winner Shubman Gill taking over the captaincy. However, the Titans failed to qualify for the playoffs that year. They made a strong comeback in 2025, where their top-order comprising Gill, Sai Sudarshan and Jos Buttler performed brilliantly, although the team ultimately bowed out in the eliminator.
In IPL 2025, the Ahmedabad-based franchise finished fourth in the points table. Their top three batsmen scored more than 500 runs, while Prasidh Krishna won the Purple Cap with 25 wickets. With consistent performances, strong leadership and strategic recruitment, Gujarat Titans have cemented their reputation as one of the most competitive and dependable franchises in the IPL.
