Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 The mini-auction is fast approaching and is scheduled to take place on December 16, 2025 in Abu Dhabi. With about a month remaining, franchises were given a deadline of November 15, 3pm IST, to submit lists of retained and released players for the upcoming season, which is tentatively scheduled to run from March 15 to May 31.
With the mini-auction on one side and retention decisions on the other, teams are actively working to shape their squads ahead of the bidding event. To strengthen their line-ups and secure key names before the auction dynamics are implemented, franchises engage in trade either through all-cash deals or swapping players.
So far, Mumbai Indians (MI) have been one of the busiest teams in the trade window. They have bought Shardul Thakur from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Sherfane Rutherford from Gujarat Titans (GT) in cash deals. However, one of the most talked about and high-profile trades involved Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson in exchange for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran. Additionally, Arjun Tendulkar has been traded from MI to LSG at his base price.
