18th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) On Saturday, March 22, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were taken to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Incidentally, both these teams closed the horns in the first match in the IPL in their inaugural session in 2008.
Cricketcker all already see that cricket enthusiasts need to know about the initial encounter in the Cash-Rich League which was held about 17 years ago.
First ball:
Rahul Dravid won the toss for RCB and decided to bowl first. Uttar Pradesh Seemar Praveen Kumar bowled the first ball in IPL history to KKR captain Sourav Ganguly. The ball picked the stumps and returned to Southpow's pad, which failed to get his bat on the ball. The ball rolled the thigh pad to the square leg and Brendon McCullum raced at the end of the non-scientist to complete a quick single.
First four:
Praveen first scored three runs after a well -organized bowling, Zaheer Khan was introduced in the second attack in the second. McCullum missed a cut shot from the first delivery from the left -handed seamor. However, he threw the second ball at mid-wicket to record the first border in the IPL.

However, at a speed of 125.8 km per hour, delivery took a thick outward and left for the third man for the first six in the IPL.
First wicket:
KKR ran at 60/0 at the end of the first five overs as McCullum was taking the RCB bowlers to the cleaner. Zaheer was brought back to the attack to bowl in the final of the powerplay. He rejected Ganguly from second delivery. Zaheer extended outward after trying to keep a beautiful out-swinger through the village on-side by Ganguly. Jacques Kalis, posted in Wide Slip, took a catch to complete the first dismissal in the history of IPL.
First fifty:
McCullum slammed the first half century in the history of IPL when he reached a milestone in the ninth over. The right -handed batsman took just 32 balls to reach a 50 -run mark. He hit Kalis for a few runs towards the backward square leg to reach his fifty.

First century:
McCullum accelerated the scoring rate after reaching his half -century. He took just 53 balls to bring the first century in the IPL. McCullum reached the landmark after scoring a few runs with Ashley Nofke in the 16th over.
First win:
KKR shocked one at 222/3 in its 20 overs on the back of McCullum's Blistering 158, which did not get out of 73 balls. This was a sheer dominance with Kiwi cricketer as the second biggest run-scorer in the innings was Ricky Ponting, who made a run-e-ball 20.
Chasing the huge target, RCB was excluded for just 82 in 15.1 overs. Ajit Agkar was the bowlers' pick for KKR as it ended with a 3/25 figure in four overs. Meanwhile, Ashok Dinda and Sourav molested two wickets. Won on a large scale of 140 runs.

McCullum was prepared for the match with his heroes as the match player, as he was disturbed on stage with the bat. Born in Dunedin, his match winning innings hit 10 fours and 13 sixes.
