According to IPL rules, teams should complete their innings within 90 minutes, including the timeout. The delay in this time line means that the captain is killed with a fine of 12 lakhs INR for the first crime. If repeated, the penalty for the INR 24 lakh for the skipper doubles, along with the teammates of the team, also fined 6 lakh or 25% of their match fee, which is less.
In the earlier season, a third offense may result in a suspension for the captain, but the IPL 2025 has dropped the ban, although the fine is high. Efforts to avoid punishment by switching the Captain Mid-season are not entertained until the BCCI is formally informed.
There are players here who are convicted of violation of the code of conduct.
11. Shubman Gill – Match 35, GT vs DC (slow rate rate):
Gujarat Titans Captain Shubman Gill During the match 35 of IPL 2025, INR was fined 12 lakhs for a slow rate, where his team faced Delhi's capitals on April 19 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The fine was imposed under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which is related to minimum over-rate offenses.
The fine was the first over-rate violation of the Gujarat season. Despite its brilliant seven-cicat win over DC, where Gill's side banned visitors in a high scoring competition, Titans failed to bowl their full overs in the required time. As a result, during the final over, the umpires banned the domestic team to only four fielders outside the 30-yard circle due to delay.

This was the first time in IPL 2025 that a member of the team's assistant employees has been punished under the IPL Code of Conduct.
9. Axar Patel – Match 29, DC vs MI (Slow Rate)
Delhi capital captain Exer Patel The INR was fined 12 lakhs for maintaining a slower rate during the IPL 2025 match against Mumbai Indians at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Since DC was the first offense of this season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, only one financial penalty was imposed.
Exer became the sixth captain this season, which was punished for a slow rate. In particular, the IPL has repeatedly abolished the match ban for crimes, replacing them with fine and in-market restrictions to maintain the speed of the game.
