Chennai Super Kings (CSK) registered a four-wicket victory against the Arch-reviews Mumbai Indians (Mi) in the match number 3 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Sunday, 23 March.

Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and opted to bowl on a fresh surface first. In the first over, Khalil Ahmed bowled three dot balls to Rohit Sharma before excluding the Indian captain from the fourth. The left -handed spinner rejected Ryan Ryyan Ricelton, debut in his second over. Ravichandran Ashwin's renovation with CSK became memorable as he got Will Jack better in his first over.

After losing three wickets within the first five overs, Mumbai required a partnership and came from Stand-in Captain Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Verma. He scored 51 runs in 36 balls to strengthen Mumbai's innings. However, Noor Ahmed brought a single-Chennai back to the game and took four wickets to the backnd of the innings.

From 87/3 in the 11th over, Mi fell to 128/8 at the end of 18th. Late attack from Deepak four (28* 15 balls) helped visitors to move beyond the 150 -run mark. Mumbai ended at 155/9 at the end of its 20 overs. Noor Ahmed starred with the ball, finishing with impressive figures of 4/18 in four overs.

In response, Chennai lost the wicket of player Rahul Tripathi in the second over. Gaikwad joined Rachin Ravindra in the middle and the pair added a 67 -run partnership off just 37 balls. However, it was primarily a one-wide show of Gikwad, which Rachin played the second Bella.

Youth debutant Vignesh Puthur dismissed Gikwad in eighth position against the game's run. Shivam Dubey and Deepak Hooda also fell victim to Puthur as the left-arm wrist-spinner gave Mumbai hopes of memorable victory. Sam Karran was rejected by Will Jack, as Chennai needed another 40 runs to win the last 35 balls.

Ravindra Jadeja got stuck here and there with Rachin, which was decreasing from the other end. He added a significant 36 -run partnership off 27 balls to take CSK to the verge. Fans got to see MS Dhoni Walking out to bat after Jadeja, only four runs were left for a win. The legendary cricketer blocked two delivery from Naman Dhir, before Rachin hit Mitchell Santner with a six and won his team with five balls to win. Kiwi all -rounder remained unbeaten on 65 off 45 balls.
