Chennai Super Kings grandly unveiled their IPL 2026 jersey, releasing a unveiling video that instantly went viral on social media. Featuring MS Dhoni, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sarfaraz Khan, the nearly four-minute trailer showcases the nostalgia and #WhistlePodu spirit.
The “CSK Coming” series has become a much-awaited tradition. The concept symbolizes the players' arrival in Chennai for pre-season preparations. Over the years, it has evolved from a simple arrival video. This season, the franchise raised the bar by presenting the Jersey launch as a spy thriller.
Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad plays the role of the man guiding the newcomers through a fictional operation at the CSK base. The suspense reaches its peak when the jersey is found missing, culminating in the revelation of MS Dhoni's iconic number 7 shirt. The moment created widespread excitement, with fans celebrating 'Thala's continued presence in yellow. Within hours of its release, the video garnered thousands of likes, reposts and over 200,000 views.
Meanwhile, the 44-year-old icon was spotted at the airport in a simple maroon t-shirt. Unlike last year's cryptic “One Last Time” message that had fueled retirement speculation, this time Dhoni did the talking with his presence. CSK's official channels shared visuals of him being welcomed by yellow-clad supporters.
The CSK pre-season camp began on March 1 at the franchise's High-Performance Centre, with CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirming Dhoni's participation from day one. Around 15 Indian players are expected to participate initially, while those with international commitments will join in later.
Subtle changes are also visible in Dhoni's preparation. Known to use one of the heaviest bats, he has reportedly started using a lighter bat of 1.23 kg to increase bat speed against modern fast attacks. His training routine has also evolved, focusing on low-impact sessions such as swimming and strength work to maintain peak fitness.
