'Both teams have shown an insistence to change the batting order'

Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been a terrible 2025 season's terrible season. Former India opener Sunil Gavaskar shared his views on two teams and what went wrong for him in IPL 2025, causing a lot of inconsistent performances.

The CSK is currently at the bottom of the table, while the Mi is the seventh, which has greatly surprised fans as both these teams are the most successful franchises with joint 10 titles in the tournament. Former 1983 world champion Sunil Gavaskar said that it is a force of both sides to make some necessary changes in his batting order, which has led to such a spectacular performance, which has brought out issues with Ruturaj Gikwad and blue in Yellow Jersey.

“Both teams have shown an insistence to change the batting order which is not scoring for them. Ruturaj GikwadWho made a name for himself with a pile of runs as a opener, left himself to bat in the fall of the first wicket, before his unfortunate injury. Now, why would a skipper do so that until he is out of form and other openers are batting brilliantly and he is very better. He is not so, and so when he went on the bat, the Chennai team lost a wicket in the powerplay and was written in a bit balls for dot balls.

“Similarly, to send reluctance of Mumbai team Tilak Verma Despite its stellar records for India at that number, it is really good at number 3, although a foreign batsman can be good, it is not easy for him to come up with Indian pitches immediately, which is more reason for an Indian who has grown on that number and should not be ordered. Gavaskar said that more than half of the tournaments are still to be played, so to win a lot of matches and climb the ladder, ”Gavaskar said.

Both Chennai and Mumbai are yet to decide fast: Sunil Gavaskar

Sunil Gavaskar further brought the time when the Mumbai franchise knew how to jump back after a slow start and has come to know that the ability to bounce back has not been seen in the last few years. He mentioned that T20 cricket needs to take fast decisions which can be seen by both teams this year.

“There was a time when the fans of Mumbai were not very worried if their team started slowly because they knew that they knew that they would return to the second half. However, in the last few years, it has been shown in the last few years that the bounce is not the same now. T20 cricket demands quick thinking and super fast decisions, and it can be seen from both Chennai and Mumbai so far.”
