Chennai lost against Super Kings (CSK) Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) For the first time in Chepuk since the opening season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Friday, March 28.
After being asked to bat first, Phil Salat gave RCB a dazzle inside the powerplay by hitting some adventurous stroke. However, 32 runs in 16 balls ended when he was stumped brilliantly by MS Dhoni. Devdutt Padikal played a brief but impressive innings at number 3, scoring 27 runs in 14 delivery.
Virat Kohli struggled to find his time after the over Mathisha Pathirana, where he hit Sri Lankan Seemar for six and four off-to-back delivery. Kohli was eventually dismissed for 30 balls. RCB captain Rajat Patidar was dropped three times in two overs, and he used lifestyle well.
The right -handed batsman scored a significant 51 runs off 32 balls, with four fours and three sixes. In the last over, Tim David hit three sixes from Sam Curan to help RCB with a total commendable clan of 196/7. Noor Ahmed was a bowlers' pick for CSK as he for three-for.
In response, CSK landed for a terrible start as they lost the wickets of Rahul Tripathi and captain Ruturaj Gikwad, the second bowling by Josh Hazelwood. Deepak Hooda was also rejected cheaply in the fifth over as CSK fell by 26/3.

Rachin Ravindra and Sam Curan tried to form a partnership, but were later rejected by trying to hit a large shot of compatriot Liam Livingstone. The wickets passed through mid -overs as CSK was seven below for 99, with 28 balls left to play.
MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja added 31 runs in 20 delivery to delay unavoidable. Jadeja was rejected by yearning, Dhoni hit two sixes and bowled before Krunal Pandya to reduce the gap of defeat. The former CSK captain remained unbeaten for 30 off 16 balls, in which the domestic side managed 146/8 in its 20 overs. Hazelwood ended with excellent figures of 3/21 in its four overs. Meanwhile, Yash Dayal and Livingstone faced two wickets. Bhuvneshwar Kumar also calculated one wicket in his RCB debut.
