Rajasthan Royals Defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets in the 16th match of the Indian Premier League 2026. The win at the Baraspara Stadium means the Royals finished the Guwahati leg of their campaign unbeaten, having won three of the three matches played here.
Invited to bat on a Guwahati wicket that has been facing rain for the past few days, Royal Challengers Bangalore were shocked by a double strike from Jofra Archer in the powerplay, which also included the wicket of Phil Salt on the first ball of the match.
They suffered another major blow when Ravi Bishnoi took the wickets of well-set Virat Kohli and Krunal Pandya, followed by the dismissals of Jitesh Sharma and Tim David, who fell to Brijesh Sharma, leaving the defending champions stranded at 94/6. Romario Shepherd scored 22 runs before becoming the victim of Ravindra Jadeja with the score at 125/7.
Amidst the chaos, Rajat Patidar stood unafraid at the other end while Impact player Venkatesh Iyer joined him and shared a vital partnership of 41 runs off just 19 balls. Patidar was out for 63, but Venkatesh scored 21 runs in the final over bowled by Sandeep Sharma, as RCB finished at 201/8.
In reply, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi started the game brilliantly, but the returning Josh Hazlewood dismissed Jaiswal for 13 runs. Despite this, Suryavanshi thrashed the RCB bowlers and completed his second half-century of the season in just 15 balls. Dhruv Jurel joined forces with Vaibhav to outclass the RCB bowlers as Royals finished the powerplay at a mammoth score of 97/1.
Suryavanshi was out after scoring a brilliant 78 runs in just 26 balls. His dismissal led to a flurry of wickets, reducing the Royals score to 134/4. But Jurel, who was progressing cautiously, ensured a calculated response as Royals completed the chase with two overs to spare. Jurel remained unbeaten on 81 runs in 43 balls, while Jadeja remained unbeaten on 24 runs in 25 balls.
