Five -time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) gave a powerful performance to eliminate the inaugural champion Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. MI registered a sixth consecutive win in the IPL 2025 season and climbed the top of the points table with seven wins.

RR captain Ryan Parag won the toss and opted to bowl first, hoping to ban MI's strong batting lineup. But the RR bowlers had no match for Mi Top Order. Openers Rohit Sharma and Ryan Ricelton started a flight, taking full advantage of the powerplay. Indian veteran scored 53 off 36 balls, and the South African batsman scored 61 runs in 38 delivery. The pair shut down the 116 -run partnership in just 71 balls.

In the middle overs, Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya intensified the innings with a stand of 94 runs off just 44 balls. Both of them remained unbeaten on 48 out of 23 delivery, causing MI to reach a total of 217 in their 20 overs. For RR, Mahesh Thekshana and Ryan Parag managed to take a wicket.

In the second innings, RR could not chase and never left. The MI bowling unit was ruthless in the powerplay and reduced Royals in a bad position by taking five wickets. Deepak Char rejected Vaibhav Suryavanshi for a duck, and Trent Bault removed the dangerous Yashsvi Jaiswal. Kiwi bowler claimed three wickets, and Karn Sharma also impressed the lower -order batsmen and impressed with three wickets. Jasprit Bumrah also took two wickets in a single over. RR was thrown out for just 117 runs, winning MI 100 runs.

The MI currently topped the points table after winning seven wins so far in the season. RR faced its eighth loss and was officially dropped from IPL 2025.
