Bangladesh's Rishad Hossain performed exceptionally well with career-best figures of 6/35 as his team sealed a 74-run win over West Indies in the opening match of the three-match ODI series on Saturday.His bowling figures are the second best for Bangladesh in ODIs after Mashrafe bin Mortaza's 6–26 against Kenya in 2006. Rishad also contributed with the bat and scored a quick 26 runs in 13 balls.Chasing the target, Brandon King and Alec Athanje gave West Indies a solid start on the slow pitch of Mirpur.The game changed when Rishad was brought in in the 12th over. He dismissed Athanaz for 27, then took the wicket of Casey Carty and then dismissed King, who top-scored with 44, taking West Indies' score to 82–3 in the 22nd over.Rishad destroyed the West Indies middle order by bowling eight consecutive overs in his first spell. The team lost its remaining seven wickets for just 51 runs.Mustafizur Rahman supported Rishad's effort with figures of 2-16, helping bowl out West Indies for 133 in 39 overs.Earlier, Bangladesh's innings faced early trouble at the score of 8-2 in the third over, but Tauheed Hridayoy Took over the team by scoring 51 runs in 90 balls including three fours.Hridoy and Nazmul Hossain Shanto, who scored 32, made a vital partnership of 71 runs.After completing his 11th half-century with a single off Roston Chase, Hridoy became the victim of Justin Greaves.Debutant Mahidul Islam Ankon contributed 46 runs, while late hitting from Rishad saw Bangladesh bowl out for 207 in 49.4 overs.This trend continues with the second ODI to be held on Tuesday.
