Phil Salt Ka On Thursday, 29 May, 56 Not Out of 56 Not Out off 27 balls against Punjab Kings (PBK) in Qualifier 1, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) storm helped the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
RCB needed only 102 runs to win the match at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mulanpur. While Virat Kohli was dismissed for a run-e-ball 12, his fellow opening partner, Salt, took the PBK bowlers into a cleaner. RCB chased the paletry target in just 10 overs with two wickets. Mayank Agarwal was rejected by other batsmen after scoring 19 runs off 13 balls.
After the match, Salt said that it was not the most difficult wicket he batted in the 18th edition of the IPL. He also mentioned that he was trying to react to the ball and exposed the importance of speed at the business end of the tournament.
“Looks great right now, this (ball) moved a little further. I think it was not the worst wicket to play this season. Don't get out of Arshdeep. We played 2 group games (with PBK), and they have discovered different ways to get me out, so I want to hit the tourn. I want to hit the tour.”
Earlier in the match, PBK was rolled for 101 in 14.1 overs. Prabhasimran Singh, Marcus Stoinis, and Azmatullah Omrajai were only PBKS batsmen coming in double figures. Josh Hazelwood and Suyash Sharma starred with the ball for RCB, with three wickets. The latter was awarded the Player of the Match for 3/17 figures in three overs.
RCB has lost three finals, the final of them in 2016. He would like to break Jinx for the summit clash to enter the Colosal Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on 3 June.
