After RCB, Rajasthan Royals are also in the race to shift their base to Pune.

It has come to notice that the 2008 champion Rajasthan Royals The Indian Premier League could be shifted to another home venue for the 2026 season, with Pune's MCA International Stadium being the frontrunner. RR's transfer plans stem from long-running issues with the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA).

However there is no official confirmation on this. The Board of Control for Cricket in India will have the final say on this matter and their decision will be final. However, the first decision point will be that of Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA).

It is being told that RR management has started searching for the venue. According to Cricbuzz, Pune is also included in their search. Royal Challengers Bengaluru is also in talks with the Maharashtra Cricket Association, but preliminary discussions have already taken place between representatives of MCA and RR.

If MCA Stadium is finalized as the venue for RR, they will play at least four matches in Pune. Their remaining three matches will be played at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. An MCA official with knowledge of the matter revealed that 'every possible effort' is being made for the return of IPL in Pune.

“Yes, they came here to know the capacity of the stadium, the nature of the pitches and details about the hotels in the city. Our president, Mr. Rohit Pawar, is very keen that the IPL returns to the city. He is making every possible effort,” the MCA official said.

An operations team from RR was recently sent to Pune to evaluate the venue, airport connectivity, hotel options and other aspects regarding logistics. It is not unknown that there have been long standing differences between RR and RCA. The situation worsened last season when an RCA official accused the franchise of being involved in match-fixing.

Meanwhile, RCB have reportedly approached the MCA for talks regarding becoming their second home ground after the horrific stampede at Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4.

At present, MCA is now facing a dilemma. RR has already sent the email to MCA. However, MCA's stance may change closer to the IPL when it comes to hosting either of the two franchises. Or just in case, hosting a game for both of you.
