Match No. 6 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 sees Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) face each other at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Thursday, April 2.
Both teams are coming into this competition after defeats in the opening matches of their campaign. While KKR lost to Mumbai Indians by six wickets at the Wankhede Stadium, Sunrisers suffered a six-wicket defeat against defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
There are some unique similarities between KKR and SRH this season. While the batting department looks strong, the bowling attack is not balanced. Injury concerns have also been a blow for both sides.
KKR is waiting for its key fast bowler Mathisha Pathirana, who is recovering from an injury sustained during the T20 World Cup. Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad's charismatic captain Pat Cummins is also looking for time to get fit and is hoping to make a comeback in the middle of the IPL.
Eden Gardens has provided many run-fests in recent seasons. With two strong teams looking forward to facing off, fans can expect plenty of fours and sixes on Thursday. However, the bowlers can make all the difference.

Pitch Report: Eden Gardens, Kolkata
Eden Gardens has been a great venue for chases, especially in recent years. The most successful run-chase in T20 cricket was recorded by Punjab Kings at the same ground in IPL 2024, when they scored 262 runs in the second innings against KKR on April 26. Dew is also expected to play its part, and the captain winning the toss will always look to bowl first. The ball could swing for the first few overs. If the openers get through that period without any trouble, the batting side can go on a rampage.
