Delhi Capitals fast bowlers Dushmantha Chameera He expressed confidence ahead of the IPL 2026 clash against Lucknow Super Giants, citing focused preparations and a positive team environment. The match is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, April 1 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium.
Chameera, who was selected in the 2025 mega-auction, was retained by DC for Rs 75 lakh ahead of the 19th season. The Capitals finished fifth in the last edition and missed out on a playoff spot by a narrow margin, and will be aiming for a strong campaign this year.
“We have had a good few days of preparation, including two practice games. The boys are in good shape right now. So far this season, we have seen the home teams win all three matches. We expect them (LSG) to work hard for us. That said, we have prepared well in the last few days, and we have many experienced players in our team, so we are confident of putting in a strong performance tomorrow,” Chameera said during the pre-match press conference.
The right-arm pacer also acknowledged LSG's strong batting lineup, which includes Aiden Markram, Rishabh Pant, Mitchell Marsh, Nicholas Pooran, Ayush Badoni and Matthew Bretzke. Chameera admitted that the DC bowling unit has had detailed discussions and prepared specific plans to counter each key batsman of the opposition.
“We have had detailed discussions within the bowling group and have made specific plans for each batsman. At the top, players like Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh have been in good form and have performed really well recently. On these types of wickets, execution is key for the fast bowlers, so our focus is on being precise with our plans,” Chameera said.
“Fast bowling is a demanding job and fast bowlers are more prone to injury than others. So it is important for us to keep our fitness, strength and conditioning on top and take good care of our bodies,” he said.
