Shivam Dubey Recently it was revealed why he chose to take a third AC train instead of waiting for Team India's flight back home after the 2026 T20 World Cup final in Ahmedabad. India's star all-rounder played a crucial role for the Men in Blue, helping the Suryakumar Yadav-led side win the coveted title by defeating New Zealand in the final on March 8.
Dubey, who was in Ahmedabad with his wife, revealed that he was looking forward to meeting his children and his father in Mumbai. That's why the 32-year-old man took a train back home.
NDTV Sports quoted Dubey as saying, “I was very worried about going home and meeting my child and my father…so I came home early in the morning. Wait, I couldn't wait.”
Dubey said there were no flights available in the morning, and they had to choose between traveling by road or boarding a train. In the end, they chose the latter because it was faster.
Dubey said, “There were no flights available, so I decided to take an early morning train from Ahmedabad to Mumbai. We could have gone by road, but the train was faster.”
Dubey also revealed that his friends and well-wishers were worried after knowing that he would be traveling by train. Had the claw of the left hand been identified on the platform or in the train, there would have been massive chaos.
“Everyone we spoke to – family and friends – was worried. They kept asking, 'What if someone recognizes you at the station or on the train?'” Dubey said.
To protect his identity, Dubey wore sunglasses, a mask and a full-sleeved T-shirt. They strategically opted for departure at 5:10 am, expecting that there would be less crowd on the platform at that time.
“I told my wife that I would wait in the car until five minutes before the train left, then run to board the train,” he said.
