Three-time IPL champion Kolkata Knight Riders The Indian Premier League has unveiled its new jersey ahead of the 2026 season, featuring a design inspired by the “Lines of Legacy” theme. With IPL 2026 set to begin on March 28, the franchise revealed new kits as part of its preparations for the upcoming campaign.
The jersey design pays homage to several iconic moments in KKR's history. From Brendon McCullum's unforgettable 158* in the inaugural IPL match in 2008 to Rinku Singh's sensational five sixes in the final over against Gujarat Titans, the design incorporates these memories through abstract linear patterns. The lines creatively merge to form the initials KKR, symbolizing the franchise's journey and defining moments.
Speaking about the concept behind the new jersey, Venky Mysore said that the design reflects the team's heritage and the memorable moments that have shaped its identity.
My Khel quoted him as saying, “The Lines of Legacy capture the essence of KKR's storied history and celebrate the team's journey over the years. Each line represents a significant moment of brilliance, reflecting the energy and emotion that weave together to create our identity. We are proud of the legacy we have created and look forward to carrying it into the upcoming season to create more memories for our fans.”
The launch was supported by a social media campaign that generated significant buzz online, with the hashtag #LinesOfLegacy trending across all platforms for approximately 48 hours. The campaign concludes with 'What's the line?' A promotional film titled 'Junk' took place, featuring actor Rajat Bedi, comedian Anirban Dasgupta and several content creators from Kolkata.
Meanwhile, KKR are scheduled to begin their 2026 campaign against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians on March 29 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The Kolkata-based franchise will also face Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants respectively. The schedule of the second phase has not been announced yet.
