Former India captain and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star ms dhoni has shared the importance of breaking away from your routine ahead of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
The 44-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman shared how riding a motorcycle and playing sports outside cricket helps him refresh from his day-to-day schedule. He advised today's generation to take up different sports and activities to find out what suits them best.
“Switching on and switching off is very important. For me, riding a bike or playing sports like badminton and paddle helps me recharge. I also think students should explore different sports because unless you try something, you will never know what you are naturally good at,” MS Dhoni said during ALLEN Online's student conversation series “Rise to the Top”.
It is no secret that Dhoni loves riding motorcycles. The CSK star was seen showing off his bike collection in his hometown Ranchi in Jharkhand.
However, the former captain recently landed into trouble when Ranchi Police issued him an e-challan after his vehicle was caught overspeeding and violating traffic rules. Dhoni was fined Rs 1,000 under Section 183 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
At the age of 44, Dhoni is still a part of the CSK squad ahead of the 2026 IPL, despite question marks over the number of games he can play this time.
CSK have already secured the services of Sanju Samson from Rajasthan Royals and traded him to allow Sam Curran and Ravindra Jadeja to go the other way. India's opening batsman can easily get a place in the playing eleven as a wicketkeeper-batsman in place of Dhoni.
Last time Dhoni played 14 matches and also captained after Ruturaj Gaikwad was out due to injury. He scored 196 runs in the season at a strike rate of 135.17. However, with no burden of captaincy this time, the CSK legend should be able to come in lower down the order and play with more freedom.
