Expert committee to decide on RCB's IPL 2026 games at Chinnaswamy on March 13

Despite the official schedule of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 being released, Bengaluru's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium is currently awaiting formal approval to host the matches. A committee of experts will meet soon to assess the conditions at the venue and decide whether the stadium is ready to host high-level cricket matches once again.

Let us tell you, Chinnaswamy has been in the news for all the infamous reasons after the stampede incident that took place during the victory parade ceremony of RCB on June 04, 2025. The stampede took the lives of eleven innocent fans who had gathered along with millions of fans to watch their favorite team drown in a joyous parade.

“The matches to be held in Bengaluru are subject to clearance from the expert committee constituted by the Government of Karnataka. The committee will hold a meeting and inspection of the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 13, 2026, during which a full-scale mock demonstration of match day arrangements will be conducted to assess the preparedness of the stadium to host IPL matches,” the organizers said on Wednesday, March 11.

As of now, only a 20-match schedule of the 2026 season has been announced, keeping in mind the upcoming elections in several Indian states, which will not allow hosting of games in cities like Chennai and Kolkata. The tournament is scheduled to begin on Saturday, March 28 between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Chinnaswamy (obviously subject to clearance).
