Rajasthan Royals are close to shifting their home matches to Pune

Amid ongoing differences between IPL franchises Rajasthan Royals (RR) And the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) has considered shifting its home matches out of Jaipur. It seems that RR have made up their mind to play at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune instead of their original home ground Sawai Mansingh Stadium for the 2026 season of the cash-rich tournament.

Earlier in the development, Royal Challengers Bangalore were also in the race to play in Pune versus Bangalore's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. As Chinnaswamy is still awaiting security protocols, he remains under suspension after the RCB victory parade turned into a stampede in which 11 civilians lost their lives.

On the other hand, Jaipur's Sawai Mansingh Stadium is also in a similar situation related to security concerns as it has failed to comply with the security clearance norms, as reported by FPJ. Moreover, the management behind the venue RCA is also in a state of turmoil as no administrator has been appointed despite court orders.

The venue hosted its first IPL match in 2012, between the now-defunct Pune Warriors India and Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings). For the next two seasons, the venue hosted PWI's home matches, before it became the permanent home venue of another defunct franchise, Rising Pune Supergiants.

The ground became the fourth venue in the state to host an IPL match after Mumbai's Wankhede and Brabourne and DY Patil in Navi Mumbai. It hosted its last IPL match during the 2022 season Kolkata Knight Riders Played with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the league stage.
