The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 mini-auction is scheduled to take place on December 16 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. This will be the third IPL auction to be held outside India. Renowned auctioneer Mallika Sagar will conduct the proceedings. The auction is scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm UAE time (2:30 pm IST) on Tuesday.
Out of 1,355 players who registered for the auction, 359 players have been shortlisted. Of these, 244 are Indian players, while 115 are foreign cricketers. A total of 40 players have fixed their base price with a maximum limit of Rs 2 crore. Interestingly, only two Indians, Venkatesh Iyer And Ravi Bishnoi is included in this exclusive group.
Across all franchises, 77 slots are available to be filled, including 31 overseas slots. Kolkata Knight Riders have the highest number of vacancies with 13 slots, followed by Sunrisers Hyderabad, who have 10 slots left. As per IPL rules, the maximum squad size for a franchise is 25 players, with a limit of eight overseas players. Teams will also have to maintain a minimum team size of 18 players. The auction will start with a set of capped batsmen.
