Former Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin feels that Australia cameron green The upcoming auction for IPL 2026 will likely attract many bids in the absence of Andre Russell and Glenn Maxwell. While Russell retired from the IPL as a player, Maxwell recently withdrew his name from the auction pool through an official statement on his social media account.
According to Ashwin, apart from Green, all-rounders like Liam Livingstone can also attract teams to go after players like him. Let us tell you that Moeen Ali has also announced that he will not be a part of IPL 2026.
“Ask him [Cameron Green] To book 4-5 acres of land near Sydney Harbour. This time he has entered the auction and there is no Andre Russell or Glenn Maxwell there. Liam Livingstone and Cameron Green have a big jackpot in the auction,” Ashwin said in a video on his YouTube channel.
Talking about Green's IPL career, he has represented Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2023 and 2024 respectively. He was not a part of the mega auction ahead of IPL 2025 due to a back injury. Green has scored 707 runs at a strike rate of 153.69 and taken 16 wickets at an economy rate of 9.07.
Green has been performing brilliantly in T-20 since his return from injury. In eight T20Is this year, his average has been 43 and his strike rate has been around 169. Green has also recently started bowling. He is currently part of Australia's Ashes squad in the five-match Test series against England. Green has recently resumed bowling duties after recovering from a minor side strain.
The franchise will be expected to go after the 26-year-old in the mini auction to be held in Abu Dhabi on December 16. A total of 43 foreign players have had their base price set at Rs 2 crore, including Green.
