'This could be CSK's biggest mistake'

Veteran domestic batsman Priyank Panchal has said that for the ongoing trade talks between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals Ravindra Jadeja And the exchange of Sanju Samson should be banned before the 2026 IPL. Panchal believes that if CSK goes ahead with the trade deal, it could prove to be one of their biggest mistakes.

The Gujarat cricketer further said that the Chennai-based franchise has built its reputation over the years by not letting go of its best match-winners and in the same way, Jadeja should continue to play for the five-time champions. Similarly, Sanju Samson has also been the poster boy of Rajasthan Royals over the years, but has not won a single title with them despite coming close on several occasions.

Multiple reports in the media have confirmed that RR and CSK are considering a trade between Jadeja and Samson. However, RR want left-handed all-rounder and CSK's Dewald Brevis to replace their long-time captain Samson. As a result, it remains to be seen how teams will approach their strategies heading into the IPL 2026 mini-auction scheduled for late December.

Reports have also suggested that Samson is no longer interested in continuing with the Rajasthan-based franchise, the team with which he made his IPL debut. As a result, the franchise is in talks with several teams, including CSK, for a possible trade-off for the aggressive wicketkeeper-batsman. It will be interesting to see what ultimately happens as the trading window deadline approaches.
