Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) had a disappointing campaign in IPL 2025 and finished seventh on the points table with only six wins from fourteen matches. Despite being a part of the league for four seasons, the Lucknow-based franchise is yet to win the coveted IPL trophy. The team made headlines by buying Rishabh Pant for a record price in the 2025 mega auction, but his performance, though highlighted by a century, was overall inconsistent.
With the IPL 2026 auction approaching, the LSG management will look to strengthen its squad, address key shortcomings and release players who failed to make a significant impact. Here are five players that LSG may consider releasing before next season.
LSG may release 5 players before IPL 2026 auction
Mayank Yadav

right arm fast bowler Mayank Yadav LSG had retained it for Rs 11 crore ahead of the 2025 mega auction. However, his IPL season was plagued with injuries, restricting him to only two matches, where he took only two wickets. Given his high price and frequent fitness problems, Mayank could prove to be a liability. LSG may prefer to free up funds to invest in a more consistent and injury-free fast bowler ahead of IPL 2026.
