Interview

Last year, you said that Punjab Kings will be in the top two of the IPL. Not only the top two, but in the final. So, do you have a prediction for next year?

I like to imagine. I like to believe in things. I am confident that I will play for the country and I will get the World Cup. Because this is a dream that has been going on for years. And I think the dream is much bigger than any of my dreams.

Obviously, IPL is a step stone. Winning IPL is a big thing. But then, it is a big dream that wearing an Indian jersey is to win the World Cup. Therefore, I imagine that I am playing in the final of the T20 World Cup and winning for the country. I think I have everything to do it and I believe that I will do it.

Do you think PBK should have retained Ashutosh Sharma in IPL 2025 mega auction? How did PBKs have your partnership on the field during your days and with it?

This assistance is a decision taken by the management by the employees. Therefore, I cannot comment on this. Because in domestic players, everyone did well. Ashutosh and Prab[simran Singh] did well; I did well

We always talked about winning. Earlier, we matched a lot of pre-existence. We batted together in many sessions. Therefore, we know the game of each other very well. We know how to take opportunity and how to win. Therefore, our partnership was not limited to matches just. When we met during practice or during dinner, we used to talk about how to play and how to win the game for the team.

Therefore, we always talked about positive. Ashutosh is always positive. There was never any negativity. Because I still remember a match in 2024 IPL, against SRH, when 26 runs were required in the final over. We were both batting and we lost by only two runs. We were confident that we would win the match. Therefore, I think the most important thing is to believe. And I think we both believed in each other and ourselves. So our partnership was so good.

How important do you consider India as a step for senior team? If you get selected, how are you preparing for it?

Apparently, the team formed for white ball is the base IPL performance. So, I think my job was to perform. I am doing it. I will continue to do it. But then, India is a base from where you come to the senior team.

India still dreams of playing. I know that India is the only way to play India. This is a step-by-step. Therefore, I sincerely hope that I will get all the awards for my IPL performance. I do not want to be in the illusion that I have done. You have to believe what I believe. But I do not want to be in the dream I have done. I have to work hard every day. I want to condition and net.

Because when the time comes, I should be 100 percent. I [need to ] Make sure that I judge the coaches, with the selectors, myself. You have to work hard every day. If you work hard every day, you will get everything. My dream is to win the World Cup for India and I am working hard for it. I know I will get it. But then, this is just a step. Finally, I want to be proud of India. I am working hard for him every day.

How closely do you follow India's approach in T20Is? If you get a chance in the team, what role can you play?

[same] Bhumika Joe I play in my home team and my IPL team – the role of Finisher and all -rounder. Abhishek Sharma, look at Surya[kumar Yadav]Shreyas [Iyer]way [they are] Batting … with intentions. I think there is a lot to learn [them]Why he is batting with the same intentions is because the game is now demanding it.

Whenever there is an international call, I will bat with the same intention and, of course, the team first … You have to put the team's demand in front of you and you have to play accordingly. I think my aim is to bat at 5-7 and whenever the team needs to bowl, bowl some overs.
