When Indian cricket was dominated by attacking batsmen like Virender Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh Prabhasimran Singh Started watching cricket. His Maroding Stroke Play inspired him to take a similar aggressive mentality to work hard on the right ball from the word 'Go'. Over the years, Prabhasimran has become one of the most trusted inaugurated batsmen in the Indian Premier League, which represents a star-stamped Punjab Kings Line-up.

Some excerpts:
You have been an explosive opener for Punjab Kings – what is the biggest twist in your IPL journey so far?
Jab Shikhar [Dhawan] Paaji Two years ago, he was appointed as captain, he gave me bail that I would play all the games. In the same season, I made a century. This was a significant turn in my career.
During the IPL 2025, Matthew Hayden compared his six-right abilities to MS Dhoni. Your comment on that?
It is always good to compare. MS Dhoni Have done a lot for the country. I could not do anything compared to him. But, I would like to do a lot. If someone compares you to a big player at the end of the day, it feels good and you also know that you have the ability.
Some words on how Yuvraj Singh affected your career
Yuvi Paji Has played a big role in my career. I always talk to him like a brother and not like a player. I, Abhishek, Naman Dhir and Nehal Vaidhera practice with them. We had a 10–12-day camp with him last time. He knows well what accurate things we work on. On a weekly basis, I get to talk with him. They have supported me a lot.
Many people see you as a future Indian star – do you feel that pressure, or does it inspire you?
When I started cricket as a youth, my goal was to represent India and play for the nation. My purpose is also to play for a long time and do good for the country.

Bumrah BrotherI found it difficult to play against him in the IPL.
Who is your cricket idol and why?
From the beginning, for me it is Virender Sehwag and Adam Gilchrist. When I started playing cricket, I used to watch Sehwag's batting on YouTube. I used to play a lot of cricket. My coaches used to say that my batting style resembles Sehwag. I like his batting very much. If I get a chance, I would love to meet him and practice with him.
Can you take us through the atmosphere of the dressing room after losing to RCB in the IPL 2025 final?
We went close to the trophy after a gap of 11 years. We were just one step away from lifting the trophy. Hopefully, we will do well next year. Thanks to coach, owners and Shreyas BrotherHe has inspired us after the final. I have been a part of Punjab Kings for seven years, and this was my first final, completely a different kind of pressure. We will please everyone next year.
Would you like to tell us something about Shreyas Iyer as captain?
He is a captain who makes us far behind, which is very important for a young man. If a captain returns you and tells you at the beginning of the tournament that you are going to play all the games of the season, then you will always think for the betterment of the team rather than your place in the team. Our coach and captain always assured my place and my focus was always on taking the team a step forward.
Some words on the role of Ricky Ponting in your career?
When I was retained, they messaged me and it was great. When he was with Delhi Capital as a coach, I scored a century against Delhi. They must have seen my performance. He informed me that he was not coming to the team as a coach, but to make me a better player and to take a step forward and I have seen in my performance. It is not that I did not make any technological changes, but it is about the stress -free environment, enjoy a lot and work hard to improve your performance.
What perspectives did you get from Sachin Tendulkar during your initial IPL game days?
There will be a lot of ups and downs in every player's career. Whenever I am down, I watch a video of 30-40 seconds from Sachin Paji Go to the team bus to practice. Whenever I watch that video, I feel inspired because he is the god of cricket for us. After that, it seems that I am giving more than 100% in my practice.
What are your feelings after Punjab maintained you and Shashank Singh as only two unkapped players?
Money does not matter much to me, but the franchise matters a lot because it was the sixth consecutive year for me with Punjab Kings at that time. You get an idea that once you maintain, you get to play. Then the mindset moves towards your performance. My only goal was to play well for the franchise.
