This step comes in view of a tragic stampede during Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). IPL 2025 M. on 4 June. The victory ceremony near the Chinnaswamy Stadium, in which 11 people were claimed and several others were injured.
The incident created widespread resentment across the state, which led to a strong criticism directed by the authorities for inadequate mob control. The Chinnaswamy Stadium located in the city center has been under long stress during major cricket matches and public functions due to lack of space.
Although the official capacity of the stadium is 35,000, over three lakh fans gathered around the venue during the RCB ceremony, which exceeds both official estimates and the capacity of the venue. Lack of adequate police personnel and limited preparations contributed to the stampede, causing a chaotic and fatal crush.
Subsequently, the state government has taken disciplinary action including suspension of several senior police officers, especially the Bengaluru Police Commissioner. The tragedy has increased the need for a political storm and better mob management infrastructure on administrative laps.
Shivkumar said, “Kamphegowda imagined a world -class Bengaluru. With our vision as our inspiration, we are committed to improving the city,” Shivkumar said.
