Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer has been fined when his team has maintained a slow rate at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad against Mumbai Indians during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 qualifier 2.
Since this was the second offense of his team under the IPL's code of conduct related to minimum over-per-rate crimes, Iyer was fined 24 lakhs. The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were fined each personally INR 6 lakhs or 25 percent of their respective match fees, whichever is low.
(When calm while batting) I do not know, to be honest, I love such big occasions. I always tell myself and also tell my colleagues in the team that the bigger this opportunity, the more calm you are, you get big results. Today was a perfect example where I was focusing more on taking my breath instead of sweating loudly there. (On chase of 200+ target) As I mentioned just before the game, all the players need to be vocal and to show that the ball is intended to be one, Punjab Kings Skipar said in the post -match presentation.
“It's just that they were not able to capitalize when they started, but they were stupid and even for me, I had to take some time. From the other end, the batsmen were striking very well. I know I know the more time I spend, the better and my vision is also very low.
Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has also been fined when his team slowed down the rate. Since this was the third offense of his team under the IPL's code of conduct related to minimum over-rate crimes, Pandya was fined 30 lakh INR. The rest of the members of the playing XI, including the impact player, were personally fined INR 12 lakhs or 50 percent of their respective match fees, whichever is less.
Shreyas, the way he batted, took his opportunities and really played well. It was an equal score, but it was really needed a great execution from the bowling unit, but they were really calm and put us under pressure and were not able to execute the way we wanted. [Should Bumrah have bowled the 17th over?] It would have been different, but maybe a little early, “said Mi Skipper.
