BCCI to honor Indian armed forces during the closing ceremony


The Control Board for Cricket in India (BCCI) will pay a special tribute to the Indian Armed Forces during the closing ceremony of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

BCCI Secretary Devjit Sasia said in an interaction in Sportstar, “The board salutes the bravery, courage and selfless service of our armed forces, whose operations protect and motivate the nation under the operation vermilion. As a tribute, we have decided to dedicate the closing ceremony to the armed forces.”

This is not the first time the BCCI has honored the armed forces during the IPL. In 2019, there was a military band at the opening ceremony in Chennai, and the board pledged 20 million for the welfare of the armed forces after the Pulwama attack, where 44 CRPF personnel were martyred.

The final which was originally scheduled to be held in Kolkata on 25 May, but was taken to Ahmedabad due to weather concerns.
