defending champion, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) CEO Venky Mysore expressed disappointment over a mid-season rule change that he believes that he directly impressed his team's IPL 2025 playoff opportunities. Knight Riders were dropped from the tournament after their match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), due to rain on 17 May, one day when the provisions of new rain were not yet effective.
After a brief suspension of the IPL due to cross -border tension between India and Pakistan, the tournament resumed on May 17 with a conflict between RCB and KKR in Bengaluru. However, there was no ball due to continuous rain, and both teams were awarded one point each.
A few days after the washout, the IPL Governing Council introduced a rule change on 20 May, adding an additional time of the time of the buffer, for a total of 120 minutes, for all the remaining league games and playoffs. This change was introduced with immediate effect to ensure that more matches could be completed due to potential monsoon rains.
As per the revised rules, the match can now begin after 9:30 pm, without overs, it can be cut, possibly a five-over competition to start from midnight. KKR chief Venky Mysore wrote an email to IPL COO Hemang Amin which mentioned his concerns.
He said, “While these mid-seasons may be required under circumstances, someone would have expected more stability in the way of implementing such changes,” he wrote.

Earlier, IPL rules allowed only 60 minutes of additional time to accommodate the delay of the weather. As Drisel had never seen to stay at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on 17 May, the match was closed at 10:26 am at 10:26 am 30 minutes before the cut-off time, reducing KKR's playoff opportunities. No result is holding the sixth position with 12 points out of 13 games, and a maximum of 14 points, which is not enough to be in dispute.

Not only the game was washed, but an additional 120 minutes could be applied, which can be applied at least 5-to-one-side game.
