Virat Kohli When he announced his retirement from Test cricket on Monday, May 12 through the Instagram post, he surprised the world. The cricket fraternity is still coming with the fact that one of the best batsmen of all time will no longer be white for India.
Kohli would go down as an unprecedented batsman in the longest format in history, who did not like to allow the bowlers to take up the upper hand, even when they raised their tails. The 36 -year -old finished with 9230 runs from 123 tests at an average of 46.85. He also broke 31 fifty and 30 centuries during his magnificent test career.
AB de Villiers spent 11 seasons in Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), playing with Kohli. Both batsmen formed the great Camadari, which has only gone with strength in years. However, South African legend revealed that he did not like Kohli very much before he knew her personally. This feeling stems from their equality, especially their competitive performance. He admitted that Kohli had a difficult rival and a “pain to play against pain” because he was as intense as a contestant.
“Virat is like one of my cricketing brothers, I really loved someone when I knew him better. He was a complete pain to play against him, so before I knew him that I didn't really like him because he was so good and competitive, was like me with that competitive nature,” D Villiers said in a video on ICC.
He said, “We really like to win and we like to draw our weight within the team's atmosphere and if there is any danger that it usually brings aggressive body language and one who would attack back and is exactly what was like playing against Virat,” he said.
However, the former South African captain said that once he came to know Kohli during his time in RCB, his friendship blossomed in brotherhood. De Villiers also mentioned how well he spoke as a pair. During their time, Kohli and de Villiers stitched some epic participation. They conduct records for the highest runs scored as a pair in IPL history, with 3123 runs out of 76 matches, including 10 century partnerships.
“Then I came to know him in RCB, I came to know him much better. We became family friends, became brothers and also became a great partner in the wicket when we played together, actually understood each other and I probably enjoyed every second of playing with him,” said de Villiers.
