With the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Currently suspended for a week due to increasing tension between India and Pakistan, the Control Board for Cricket in India (BCCI) is looking for an option to resume the tournament. The suspension came into force in Dharamasala after the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capital match on 9 May. The decision to call the game was taken keeping in mind the player's safety, logistics and overall geo -political climate.
Subsequently, the BCCI is closely assessing the events before confirming the next decision. However, potential plans are already being discussed. According to sources cited by the Times of India, the board is considering staging the remaining part of the IPL in cities, considered relatively safe and logically viable, ie Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
“A week is a long time when it comes to such cases. The board is chasing a casual plan. But the initial feeling is that BCCI is considering the remaining IPL matches in cities like Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bangalore, considering the remaining IPL matches, if the league spoke next week.
England offers to host IPL 2025 remaining
With 12 league matches and four playoff fixtures in the tournament, the early completion of the tournament is not only from the broadcaster and sponsor perspective, but also due to the packed international calendar, to tour England for the five -match testing series from 20 June with India.
In particular, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have allegedly proposed to host the remaining IPL 2025 in the United Kingdom, reaching the BCCI.
Former England captain Michael Vaughan also publicly talked about the idea, assuming that this would be a practical step in view of the Indian team's upcoming England tour.
If security concerns continue in India, the UK believes it can provide a neutral and safe site. However, transferring IPL abroad will lead to lack of logical issues and time, especially in India with the monsoon season and the Asia Cup also around the corner.
