Acting Glenn Maxwell IPL has been dropped from 2025 due to injury. The star player faced a fracture finger, causing the 18th edition of the league to exit before time. During the toss between CSK and PBK, Shreyas Iyer confirmed the news and claimed that he had not yet thought about the replacement of the star player.
PBKS Skipper won the toss and opted to bowl first against CSK. Danny Morrison asked Iyer to an update on Maxwell's injury, which the latter confirmed that it was serious, excluding Australia from the rest of the tournament. He confirmed that Maxwell would not be made against the domestic side in the XI of the team to play.
“Very sad to remember Glenn Maxwell, who has a fragmented finger. We have not yet decided on replacement. Yes, we are probably clinging to our last play XI. It's not sure what the changes are. But most of the players are there,” said during the toss.
Glenn Maxwell performed in IPL 2025
Born in Melbourne, the IPL auction was purchased by PBKS in 2025 for a price of INR 4.2 crore, which was once again returning to its former franchise. Home return was not good for an experienced player, as he could not bat well for the 2014 runner-up. The 2014 season MVP played seven matches and failed with the bat in this edition, while he did well as a assistant bowler.
With the bat, the right -handed batsman scored just 48 runs in 6 innings, which at a poor strike rate of 97.96, with the best score of 30, only at a poor strike rate of 8.00. For the second season in one line, Maxwell failed to record a half -century in a match.
With the ball, he was as better as the 2024 season. The Right-Arm Slow Off-Spinner claimed 4 wickets in 6 innings at a good bowling strike rate of 19.50 at an economy rate of 8.46, at a bowling average of 27.50. In his absence, PBK could play DisinterestedJosh England, or Azmatullah Omrajai, however, is expected to be announced soon.
