IPL 2025: Rajasthan Royals vs Lucknow Super Giants, Match 36

Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Lucknow Super Kings (LSG) collided at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday, 19 April. LSG won the toss and chose to bat first.

LSG did not make a good start as Mitchell Marsh (6 runs 6) fell quickly for an excellent catch by Shimron Hetmier. Rishabh Pant (3 runs 9) could not go either because the LSG did not have one-but did not have an impact powerplay. Aiden Markram (66 out of 45) and Ayush Badoni (34 runs 34) provided very essential stability and inspiration, so that the following order can be broken for a rescue score in later stages. Abdul Samad did exactly as he scored 30* runs off 10 balls, hitting four sixes in the last over. LSG ended at 180/5.

RR began chasing in style as Vaibhav Suryavanshi (34 runs 20) and Yashsvi Jaiswal (74 for 52) shared an 85 -run partnership. With such a beginning, the game was to lose Rajasthan that he actually did. Captain Ryan Parag (39 runs 26) and Shimron Hetmyer (12 leave) made their best attempts, but in the end it was a lack of speed after the departure of the initial pair that made it difficult for RR to cruise for victory. A brilliant last over by Avesh Khan (3/37) won LSG two runs.

talking points

1. Rishabh Pant fails again

Although Rishabh Pant played an innings-defying knock in the last match against CSK (49 runs), it returned to single digits for the most paid player. Did not come in the left hand. 4 When the score was 46/2 after 5.2 overs. The situation demanded the uplift of the run -rate. However, the pants could not go and were rejected for 3 (9), which is a good grip by Dhruv Jurlel from Vanindu Hasranga.

The pants have scores of 0, 15, 2, 2, DNB, 21, 63, 3, which are so far scoring 107 runs in seven innings respectively in IPL 2025. The strike rate of Southpo, which is known to kill its power, is only 98.14. However, the pants are not able to create an impact with the bat that he is definitely doing this as the captain. 2. Abdul Samad broke Sandeep Kumar for four sixes in the last over

In the first innings, the LSG was 153/5 at the end of the 19th over. It seemed that what they would be getting would be less. However, Abdul Samad completely replaced the equation in the next few minutes, in which Sandeep Kumar last bowled. David Miller took a single with the first ball, which led to the strike. Then he hit two consecutive sixes.

On the fourth ball, Samad scored two runs. There was pressure on Sandeep Kumar for the last two balls and he did a flounder. Samad hit the remaining balls for big sixes to give LSG something to bowl to LSG. 27 important runs were found in the final over which proved to be decisive in the end.

Southpo continued to find borders as he and Yashsvi Jaiswal formed a platform-setting 85-run partnership off 52 balls. Suryavanshi ended with two fours and three sixes. The striking feature of The Young Man's innings was also his aggressive mentality against some established bowlers.

who said what?

Ryan Parag, Rajasthan Royals captain

Feeling a little hard to process emotions, not sure what we did wrong. We were in the game till the 18–19 over. I probably should have finished it in the 19th over, I blame myself. We just have to keep a game together for 40 overs, only then we can win. We really did well (with the ball), the last over was unfortunate, thought we would stop them for 165–170. Sandy (Sandeep Sharma) trusts brother, he was only a bad game. Samad really batted well. We should have chased that below. Today was perfect, there was no complaint about the wicket. We were right in this, you can spend some balls an IPL game.

Rishabh Pant, Lucknow Super Giants Captain

(Relief or happy?) I think both. Such matches build character. It was a wonderful victory. As a team, it is going to take us to a different level. These are positive things that we always talk about. We are going to do better as a team. All the credit to the bowlers holding their veins at the right time. This is not easy, especially when we are always behind the game. He played brilliantly but our bowlers kept their nerve, especially Avesh who was fantastic. The idea was to take your time, execute the plan with a clear mindset, take a ball at a time. We are moving in a positive direction. Just enjoying victory as now.

Avesh Khan, match players

My hand is good, kill my bone, I could not celebrate. I do not want to be a Michelle Staror, I just want to be a good Avesh Khan. Yorker is my strength and I try to execute it. I do not bowl to see the scorecard. (On Miller's drop) I felt that he would take it to ensure it. Just 4 was needed, there was some doubts in my brain, one could go for a range outside or inside. I told myself to bowl a yorker on the middle leg. I think of the team. We won this. This is a big tournament, I will try to bowl in the remaining matches in the same way.
