Suryakumar Yadav suffered a shock after Tilak Verma retired for Mitchell Santner vs LSG


Mumbai Indians took a bold decision to retire Tilak Verma The struggle against Lucknow Super Veterans during the last night IPL 2025. With just 24 balls requirement in 204 chases, the five -time champion opted to take out a set batsman and send it to Mitchell Cantner.

MI Captain Hardik Pandya defended the verdict, mentioning that it was 'clear' that seeing Tilak's struggle to find boundaries. Jayawardene also supported the post -match decision, saying that he gave Tilak enough time in the middle.

Hardik said at the press conference after the match, “It was clear (when Tilak retired). We needed some hits. In cricket, some of those days come. When you try, but it doesn't stop. Just play good cricket. I like to keep it simple. I like to take better calls.”

But this explanation did not sit well with many people, including former India cricketers like Harbhajan Singh, Virender Sehwag and Irfan Pathan, who questioned the argument of bringing it to Santner for only the last seven delivery. Tilak became only the fourth batsman to retire in IPL history, joining the choice of Ravi Ashwin, Atharva Taid and Sai Sudarshan.

Harbhajan said, “If it had been for Pollard or some other skillful hitter, I would have understood. But it was not.” “Tilak Verma retired, and is coming to Santner? I don't mean anything. What do you guys think?” Pathan tweeted.
