Australia converts India into the number 1 Test team in the ICC rankings after the annual update.


Australia has converted India into the number 1 Test team in the ICC men's ranking after the annual update. However, India has retained the top position in the ODI and T20I rankings.

In this cycle, the matches played only after May 2021 have been taken into consideration for the ranking, which means that India's 2–1 series of victory in Australia in December 2020-January 2021. Between May 2021 and May 2023 all the results are weighed 50%, while in the following 12 months people weigh 100%.

As a result, Australia, who also won the World Test Championship last year, is now 124 rating points, the second -ranked India (118) is clear, and 19 are ahead of England (105) in 19 third place. Both India and Australia take action in the format in November itself, when they face each other in Perth.

The posts of all other test teams are unchanged.

In the ODI rankings, India (122) has increased its lead over Australia (116) to six rating points. South Africa ranks third, and only four points behind Australia. Pakistan (106) and New Zealand (101) out of top five.

While India is still the number 1 in T20I with 264 points, Australia (257) has reduced their lead from 11 to seven points.

The largest beneficiaries were South Africa, who extended two places from sixth to fourth place, and are just two points behind England (252), who finished third.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has dropped two places to seventh position, and Scotland ranked Zimbabwe at 12th.
