Happened during a dramatic moment IPL 2025 The season opener between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Eden Gardens, as Sunil Narin made a lucky migration as a hit-vickey dismissal. Despite the KKR all-rounder finally dismissed for 44 runs off 26 balls, the controversial incident questioned the RCB players questioning the decision.
During the 7th over, Narin was bowled by Rasikh Salaam, Nerin faced a sharp short delivery, trying to dodge. While doing so, his bat touched the stumps, illuminating Bell. However, the umpires gave a wide indication due to height and did not exclude it as the ball was already collected by the wicketkeeper, Jitesh Sharma, and the woman had completed her action to play delivery.
Why was Sunil Narin not given a hit wicket?
According to Cricket's MCC laws, a batsman is an out-hit wicket, if he breaks his stump while playing the ball, starts for a run, or makes a second hit to protect his wicket. Meanwhile, RCB won the toss under the leadership of newly appointed captain Rajat Patidar and opted for bowling first. They landed for the start of a dream as Josh Hazlewood already rejected Quinton de Kock for just 4 in 4. However, the defending champion bounced back into style, thanks to Captain Ajinkya Rahane and Narin's 44 off 26 balls thanks to half a century of 25 balls.
KKR reached 107/2 in 10 overs, sacking after scoring 56 runs in 31 delivery. In just 54 balls, the second wicket partnership between Rahane and Narin came back to the game. West Indian was rejected by a magnificent length ball of Rasikh, which got an edge and went straight to the keeper.
