The arrival of technology has consistently shaped the games, and the teams have started paying full attention to the data in the bid to get additional benefits on their opponents. Today, data is the name of the Analytics game and there is a revolution as to how the team and athletes are from the display and strategy point of view.
Mo Bobat, Director of Cricket Royal Challengers BangaloreRecently dissected the role of data and decision -making when he conducted the recently concluded RCB Innovation Lab Indian Sports Summit by leaders. Bobat was interacting with Isa Guha and RCB batting coach mentor Dinesh Karthik.
“My attraction is better data than someone else, making decisions and having better data, gives you a possible advantage for it. How do you understand about that information and data, and if you can apply it in the moment. You can execute your decision and how you follow, it is very important. It is very important. It is your main currency as a leader in the game,” Bobat said.
Former English and Wales Cricket Board's former performance director Bobat said that RCB used prominent data in two fields: plan for recruitment and performance. The British explained how the data was used when the team was ready for a game.
“Every time you go to a game, you are going to inquire with information and data in front of you, try and understand how you can highlight the weaknesses of the opposition and take maximum advantage of your strength and then review yourself after the match. And then, you go again,” he said.
He said that one of the major concerns was how to explain and use data, especially when its abundance is available on your fingers.

“Not all decisions are the same. Take an auction for example, you can have six weeks to plan for auction and a few weeks that will be intense. You can spend a lot of time to go through a structured process for a long time. However, in-even in-even-game decision-making is very difficult, you do not have the same luxury of time. Whether or does not work.
Bobat said, “The balance between using data or relying on the spirit of your intestine at this time, if you can strike it correctly, it will always help improve decision making,” Bobat said, who has worked as a consultant with RCB in the past.
Karthik, a swashballing batsman and now RCB's batting coach and mentor, how did the data use data during their game's days.
“Data is a very interesting concept that has been used since the arrival of the IPL. It never used a parameter as a pre-IPL because many players used the word 'feel'. However, the data shown was better ready and could make you much more for your weaknesses than to attack your weaknesses.
