Curren, who has represented Surrey since the U15s and captained a Surrey side in the U17S for the first time, was England players match and tournament when they won the T20 World Cup in 2022, but have been out of favor since 2023 World Cup. He was not selected for Brendon McCullum's early white-ball squad this year, which recently included the Champions Trophy that ended Jose Butler's term as England captain.
He captained Surrey for three blast fixtures in 2023, who stood for Chris Jordan, which he is now full -time successful. He led Punjab Kings on a total of 11 occasions in the Indian Premier League in 2023 and 2024. This year he recently captained Desert Wiper in the final of the ILT20.
Karran has scored more than 4,000 T20 runs and has scored his first T20 century against Hampshire at Kia Oval in last year's Vitality Blast. With the ball, he has more than 250 T20 wickets with his left -arm seam and swing.
He was designated as Visden Cricketer of the Year in 2019, and has represented England more than 120 times in all formats since his debut in 2018.

“I am eager to lead my team and I will do everything that is proud of Surrey to meet the standards and expectations.
“I am very firm to give the trophy and try to repeat what has been achieved in the county championship in the last few years to make members and fans proud.”
Surrey's high performance cricket advisor, Alec Stewart said: “I would like to thank Chris Jordan for my three years as the captain of the T20 side. He led the team to perform continuously in the final day and will remain an important part of the Side and the Field on the field.
“This is the right time for Sam to handle as captain where he is in his career. It is a great opportunity for him to leave his impression in the team and help us take one step ahead to give silverware. Sam has already shown his leadership qualities in Surrey and IPL and he will bring a big amount to the role.”
This year, Surrey's first vitality blast stability at Kia Oval is on Thursday, June 5, when they take to Hampshire in a double-header match.
