IPL defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders have kicted their preparations for the 18th season with a week-long training camp in Mumbai, before the Kolkata leg of the main pre-tournament camp started in March. The ongoing program is to bring its main domestic talent together for seven days of comprehensive training and team bonding activities.
The camp, which lasts from 21–28 February, is nine of KKR’s nine domestic players, focusing on the construction of early speed before the upcoming season. Leading the pack with Venkatesh Iyer, Rinku Singh, Ramandeep Singh, Vaibhav Arora and others. The camp also has young talents like Angkrish Raghuvanshi, which had an impressive first season in 2024, and newcomer Mayank Markande and Luvunith Sisodia.
Training camps, head coach Chandrakant Pandit and his assistant employees, include special power and conditioning sessions, skill training in nets, match simulation exercises and team bonding activities.
“Players who are currently not involved in domestic cricket are available and have attended this small pre-season camp. This is a common routine for us in every season. We will also have a camp in Kolkata from March 12, where we will have international players available after the ICC Champions Trophy. Our real preparation will begin when the entire squad is assembled, but this camp will help us to bring us into a rhythm. KKR will launch its Tata IPL 2025 campaign, with a season opener with a season opener against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Eden Gardens on Saturday 22 March.
