PCB President Mohsin Naqvi has insisted that the board remains “clear” in the idea that any decision on hosting the Champions Trophy should be “based on equality”. With the ICC virtually a meeting and potentially voted on the issue on 29 November, Naqvi said that he was in touch with ICC President Greg Barkle and was in contact with the “his team” ICC in PCB.
“Our stance is very clear,” Naqvi said during a press conference held at Gaddafi Stadium at 1 am on Thursday morning. “I promise that we will do the best work for Pakistan cricket. I am constantly in touch with the ICC President and my team is constantly talking to him. We are still clear in our stand that it is not acceptable that we India plays India, and they do not play cricket here.
Naqvi confirmed that India had not given any written objection to Pakistan and he did not say whether in his communication, the ICC had answered the questions that PCBs have traveled to Pakistan for this program of India. Was asked about the refusal.
But he did not answer directly repeated questions whether the hybrid model is unacceptable for PCB. “Whatever we do, we will ensure that the best results are achieved for Pakistan,” Naqvi said many times. “But I repeat, and I am sure you know what I mean, it is not possible that Pakistan plays in India, and they do not come here.”
NAQVI’s comments are a reference for Pakistan given the terms of their participation in future events organized by India. India is the hosts of the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup, as well as the co-mausoleum of the 2026 T20I World Cup with Sri Lanka.
Naqvi said that any decision taken in the ICC meeting will then be taken to the Government of Pakistan for the final approval. He also urged Jai Shah, who leaves his post as BCCI Secretary on Sunday as the President of ICC, leaves to show concern for the benefit of ICC in the organization’s operation.
,[Jay Shah] Takes charge in December, and I am sure that once he goes to the ICC from BCCI, he will think about the benefit of the ICC, and that is what he should do. Whenever someone plays such a role, it should only consider the interests of that organization. ,
Naqvi also said that the goals of the PCBs visiting the meeting were not financial. “I promise you that we will not just sell our rights for more money. This will never happen. But whatever we will do best for Pakistan, we will do it.”
