Rangpur’s riders have won the world super Lage, surpassing Victoria for 56 runs after much uncertainty because of their participation in the final.
AFIF has a night until December 7, so it was eligible to play in the GSL final. The Souma and Rishad’s Night, however, had expired, and the BCB had denied Rangpur’s application to expand them. The franchise sought to make contact with BCB President Faruque Ahmed, who went to New York.
With just hours to go to the GSL final, therefore, uncertainty reigned, but the contest began as planned. Rangpur accumulated 178 by 3, thanks to the 54 Soussa 86 and 68 -49 Steven Taylor balls. Victoria, in response, was launched by only 122 in 18.1.
The Rule Tournament claims that a team can play up to five players abroad and a minimum of six local players. Rangpur had said that they might have to lose the final if the BCB moves the three players of Bangladesh.
“If they remain firm in their decision, Rangpur will have to lose the final game without even stepping on the pitch,” said a statement by Rangpur Riders. “This incident would undoubtedly tarnish Bangladesh’s reputation on the global stage, as it is extremely rare for a team to lose a final due to a shortage of players.
“In addition, in the GSL, Rangpur not only depicts himself, but also to the whole nation of Bangladesh. Therefore, such an unfortunate event would also be deeply disappointing for cricket fans.”
The GSL rescheduled the final a few weeks ago from December 7 to 6, so it does not clash with the Bangladesh Indies Hate series. Rangpur was already without Khushdil Shah, the PCB NOC is over. He has played three of the four Rangpur games. Meanwhile, Matthew Forde did not appear in the tournament due to an injury.
