Former New Zealand batsman Cumming appointed Blaze head coach


Craig CummingFormer New Zealand batsman has been appointed as the head coach of Blaze for his first season affiliated to Nottinghamshire as part of Tier 1 female domestic structure.

Coming has enjoyed success in his country with Otago Sparks, giving him more than two 50 Holiberton Johnstone titles in four years. After the conclusion of the Super Smash T20 competition, he will reach the UK in the new year.

Coming said, “I think I am getting very humble and privilege.

“I already know some players and employees, and have visited the team while living in the UK in the last few years, so I know that everyone works on the highest standards. But the most important thing is that I know that I am joining A magnificent group of people, both in and out.

“I can’t wait to be a part of this amazing team, and I am ambitious to help give more to their success in the last few sessions.”

Comes after appointment of Kaming Chris guestWho had coached Blaze for his first silver pot in the Charlotte Edwards Cup of the previous season, left to handle the tenure of the England woman Under -19.

Cricket Blaze Director, James Katt said: “Success as a coach of Craig speaks for herself. In a relatively short time, Craig has a significant impact in Otago, which is a pre-eminent in New Zealand women’s cricket Stressing has been in the last few years I am excited to see how we can develop under his leadership.

“Guesy’s departure gave us the opportunity to see how we can move beyond the state of strength, putting such a strong record together in the last two summer.

“We made a complete, global discovery to find the best candidate, and – among some very strong applicants – Craig’s credentials and lineage were the most compelling.

“There is an exciting heat for us, with an extended stability list and a squad with a mixture of youth talent and international experience, and I am sure that the fresh perspective of the Craig will be a very large asset.”
