A NZC’s release also stated that the decision on the future of Divine will be announced “in appropriate time”, saying that NZC, Cricket Wellington and RCB supported their decision to take a break. RCB has not yet mentioned any replacement.
Liz Green, head of NZC’s high performance development, said, “The good of the players is paramount for us – it is preferred on everything else.” “Sophie got excellent support from the New Zealand Cricket Players Association and employees of our own high performance unit, and everyone agrees that it is the best option available.
“The most important thing for NZC is that Sophie got a good break, she is getting good support and care, and she is fit before returning to professional cricket.”
Since winning the T20 World Cup with New Zealand in October 2024, Divine has been a part of ODIs against India, played at WBBL for Perth Scormers and also played ODI against Australia in late December.
