South Africa Under-19 164 for 5 (Rawls 33, Ahmed 2-24) beat England Under-19 161 (Dawkins 59, Moores 59, Daniels 4-25)
South Africa Men’s U19 leveled their series against England Men’s U19 with a five-wicket win in the second Youth ODI in Cape Town.
Ben Dawkins and Joe Moores both scored half-centuries, but Young was the only Lions batsman to reach double figures.
Kent opener Dawkins reached his half-century in 74 balls, but lacked support until Moores put on a 41-run partnership for the sixth wicket. The Lancashire left-hander counter-attacked expertly and his fourth six, a comfortable pull off Daniels, helped him bring up his half-century in 58 balls.
However, it was not enough, as opener Rowles put on a 46-run partnership with captain Benny Hansen for the second wicket, before Paul James and Bandile Mbatha added 30 runs each. Farhan Ahmed took 2 wickets for 24 runs.
The series is to be decided in Stellenbosch on Wednesday ahead of the two-match Youth Test series starting on January 26.
